Brand identity for the First International Conference on Agri-Value Chain Investment in Somalia

International investment conferences compete for attention long before delegates arrive. A strong visual identity helps communicate credibility, clarify purpose and shape first impressions. We developed a strategic brand identity proposal for the First International Conference on Agri-Value Chain Investment in Somalia, positioning the event as a platform for investment, partnership and long-term agricultural growth.

The First International Conference on Agri-Value Chain Investment in Somalia was created to connect government institutions, development partners and private investors around opportunities within Somalia’s agricultural sector. The event needed an identity that would communicate this vision while reflecting the country’s growing potential as an investment destination.

Our role was to translate that ambition into a coherent visual language.

Developing the conference branding concept

We developed a visual identity that positioned the Somalia Development and Investment Conference as a platform for long-term investment, partnership and collaboration. Rather than serving the event alone, the identity was designed to support a broader narrative about Somalia’s economic potential and future.

The visual concept centred on the idea of connection. At its heart, a five-pointed star symbolised unity, shared ambition and national aspiration. Flowing forms inspired by ocean waves reflected Somalia’s blue economy while also evoking ploughed fields, linking the country’s marine resources with its agricultural potential. Arrow-shaped edges echoed Somalia’s extensive coastline and reinforced a forward-looking vision of growth and investment.

This strategic concept informed the entire identity system. The colour palette combined Somali Blue with complementary greens and turquoise tones to reflect the relationship between land and sea, reinforcing the conference’s focus on agri-value chains, investment and sustainable economic development.

From this foundation, we developed a complete visual identity, including the logo, typography, graphic language, event materials and promotional assets, creating a cohesive system that could be applied consistently across digital and print communications.

Positioning Somalia as an investment destination

Every branding decision we took supported a broader communication objective: presenting Somalia’s agricultural sector as an environment for investment and partnership. The identity focused on opportunity, collaboration and market potential. Although the organisers ultimately selected a different identity for the event, the concept remains one of our favourite examples of how design can help position countries for investment and partnership.
